The Sparkles Team had the privilege of meeting with Terry Mills, a Disabled People’s Employment Champion at the Welsh Government.
What They Do:
- Guidance for Employers: Offer advice on inclusive recruitment, retaining staff with disabilities, and creating accessible HR policies.
- Access to Support: Help businesses connect with available financial aid and resources for employing disabled individuals.
- Raise Awareness: Promote the skills and talents of disabled people and challenge misconceptions, often using the social model of disability.
- Work with Business Wales: Collaborate with Business Wales advisors to provide hands-on help to SMEs and startups.
Who They Are:
- A network of Champions from diverse backgrounds, all with personal experience as disabled people or supporting disabled individuals in employment.
- They bring real-world understanding to help businesses overcome barriers.
